Lugano, Switzerland - Already sporting the Pro Tour overall points leader's jersey that he pulled on after a second place performance behind teammate Stefan Schumacher at the Amstel Gold race on Sunday, Davide Rebellin waited for the right moment and then sprinted around Matthias Kessler in the last 200 meters to win Fleche-Wallonne today in convincing fashion. Combined with an impressive 2nd place on Sunday, it's clear that his form is as strong as it has been since he made history winning three classics races in a row in 2004, and he must also be considered a favorite for Liege-Bastogne-Liege on Sunday.
Rebellin and Schumacher were both using WCS 4-axis stems, WCS Classic bars, and WCS Carbon posts.
Huge congratulations go out to the Gerolsteiner squad from all of us here at Ritchey. It has already been a very successful classics season, and we're not through yet!
