In the time trial, Stacy Marple had a break-through personal effort. Despite being off her bike a couple of times fighting with a water bottle cage, she finished in the money. Her solid finish is indicative of her TT capabilities and we are looking forward to future TTs! The Criterium on Sunday was hands-down the best team effort yet. Brooke was well protected in the front of the peloton as Team TIBCO covered strong attacks by T-Mobile, Aarons and Cheerwine. It was the fastest and most aggressive Crit of the season and Team TIBCO was poised for a top finish, when bad luck reared its ugly head.
Brooke suffered a mechanical mishap after a hard bump on a corner and was out of the race. The team shifted tactics to lead out development team sprinting ace, Alexis Alexander, but a crash the next lap took Alexis out! With no sprinters left in the race, Team TIBCO was still able to finish 10th and 12th with Stacy and Liza going toe-to-toe with some of the top sprinters in the US!
The team is all very motivated for the Redlands Bicycle Classic this weekend. http://www.redlandsclassic.com/ In particular, look for climbing sensations Stacy Marple, Marisa Asplund and Victoria Bastide to show their prowess on the first true climbing course of the year on Friday and for sprinter, Brooke Miller, to take charge on the fast, aggressive and technical Crit course on Saturday.
